Knives
I sharpen all types of knives, including Japanese and Western kitchen knives, pocket knives, tactical knives, hunting and fishing knives, as well as less common items such as kukhris, karambits, billhooks, machetes, and swords. I work with various blade steels, ranging from common carbon steels to the many new “super steels.”
I also do restoration of old, damaged, or rusted blades.
PRICING
Kitchen knives & cleavers: $2 per inch. Minimum $5.
Serrated kitchen knives: $2 per inch for standard serrations on bread knives, utility knives, tactical knives. Note: I do not sharpen micro-serrations (tiny saw-tooth serrations).
Traditional pocket knives (folders): $10 per blade.
Modern/tactical folders: $10 to $15, including pivot lube. Note: additional $5 for Tanto, Recurve, and Karambit folders.
Fixed blade knives: $2.00 per inch.
Specialty knives such as karambits, kukhris, billhooks, machetes, etc.: $2 per inch, minimum $10.
Daggers and other double-edged blades: $4 per inch.
Swords: $3 - $5 per inch for single-edged swords. $4 - $6 per inch for double-edged swords.
NOTE: Prices may vary for major reprofiling, regrinding a broken tip, removal of large chips, heel reduction, thinning, or adding a sharpening choil, depending on the customer’s desired outcome.

Edged Tools
I sharpen a variety of edged tools. Pricing includes cleaning and pivot lubrication where applicable. The list below is not exhaustive. If you have an edged tool in need of sharpening that is not listed below, please contact me to ask about it. See also the FAQ page for a list of items I do not currently sharpen.
Carpentry and woodworking tools:
Chisels, plane blades, drawknives, spokeshaves, etc.: $6 - $20, depending on size and condition.
Planer blades up to 14” long and jointer blades: $8 - $40, depending on size and condition.
Japanese chisels and plane blades: Prices vary depending on conditions of the blade and plane body, and the customer’s desired outcome.
Note: Chisels and plane blades used for fine woodworking may require specific preparation. Specifically, the back of a fine woodworking chisel or plane blade should be perfectly flat and polished to a near-mirror surface so as to meet the edge bevel precisely for clean, square, and flat cuts. Consequently, if this preparatory work is needed for your chisels or plane blades, prices will run from $12 - $20, depending on size and overall condition. Note that flattening usually has to be done only once, upon initial set up of the blade.
Paper Cutters and Chipper blades:
Paper cutters as used in schools: Prices vary depending on length and condition of the blades, but generally $2 per inch.
Commercial paper cutters and chipper blades up to 12 inches in length and up to ½ inch thick: $2 to $6 per inch, depending on condition and thickness. At present I can not sharpen chipper blades longer than 12 inches.
Yard tools - prices vary depending on size and condition, but generally:
Pruning shears: $8.
Loppers: $10.
Hedge trimmers - manual: $12.00 to $20.
Hedge trimmers - electric or gas powered: $1.50 per inch
Lawn mower blades: $12 - $14.
Hatchets, rigging axes, single-bit axes: $8 - $12.
Double-bit axes: $12 - $20.
Shovels and hoes: $7 - $12.
Scissors & Clippers
Scissors: $8 - $20, depending on type, size and condition.
Grooming shears/scissors: $10 - $15 for straight blades, depending on condition; $15 - $20 for thinners, chunkers, and curved blades
Pet grooming clippers, generally $11 per set (cutter and comb).
Other
